Acalanes Ridge Sunset No. 1
On the west side of the Concord Valley, about 30 miles (50 Km) northeast of San Francisco, Acalanes Ridge is a small oasis of oak trees and cattle-grazing fields amongst the growing suburbia. This photograph was used for the back cover of Junior Hot Cell's The Unfenced Land.

Acalanes Ridge Sunset No. 2
This was taken from the same ridgeline as the image above. This photo is testimony to the philosophy of always watching your back while taking pictures, as I was focused on the last light shining on Mount Diablo when I noticed this lone oak tree behind me surrounded by a hole in the clouds.

Fire in the Sky - Cape Royal
Taken from Cape Royal on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, Arizona. The shadow of Wotons Throne lies below the chaotic clouds catching the last rays of sunlight. The bubbling cloud forms at the base of the dying thunderhead are called cumulus mammatus and, in stronger storms than this, they can spawn tornadoes. The white speck above the clouds is a thin crescent Moon.
